People in the News: EMD Millipore Names Batra as CEO; XDx, HTG Hire New Execs

EMD Millipore, the life science division of Germany's Merck KGaA, has appointed Udit Batra as president and CEO effective May 15.

Batra joins EMD Millipore from the consumer health division of Merck KGaA. He previously worked at Novartis Vaccines & Diagnostics, where he was head of global public health and market access. Prior to that, he served in a range of executive management positions at Novartis, including global head of corporate strategy and country president for the pharma business in Australia.

Batra holds a PhD in chemical engineering from Princeton University and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.


XDx this week announced the appointment of Kenneth Ludlum as chief financial officer.

Ludlum most recently served as vice president and CFO of EndoGastric Solutions. He also previously served as CFO at several public companies, and is currently on the board of several private and public companies. Ludlum holds a BS in business from Lehigh University and an MBA from Columbia University.


Patrick Roche has joined HTG Molecular Diagnostics as senior vice president for IVD assay development.

Roche joins HTG from Ventana Medical Systems/Roche Tissue Diagnostics, where he served as vice president of translational diagnostics. Prior to his time at Ventana, Roche was an associate professor of pathology and biochemistry/molecular biology at the Mayo Clinic, where he also served as director of the Immunohistochemistry Clinical Laboratory.
