NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) — Biomatrica said today that it has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Sigma-Aldrich for its biomolecule stabilization products.
Under the agreement, Sigma-Aldrich has non-exclusive rights to distribute Biomatrica's products, which allow scientists to collect, stabilize, store, and ship biological samples such as purified DNA and RNA, as well as more complex specimens such as cells and tissues, at ambient temperatures.
Biomatrica's core technology relies on a phenomenon called anhydrobiosis as part of a synthetic, chemistry-based stabilization method that forms a thermostable barrier around a sample to provide protection against degradation and loss of biological activity.
