Seegene Inks Government Deal to Deliver 4M Respiratory Panel Tests to Brazil

NEW YORK – Seegene has signed a supply deal with the Ministry of Health of Brazil to deliver four million respiratory panel tests to the country, the firm said on Thursday.

To help respond to a "twindemic" in Brazil involving a rapid surge of both influenza and SARS-CoV-2 infections, the Seoul, South Korea-based firm will deliver its Allplex SARS-CoV-2/FluA/FluB/RSV PCR assay, which is capable of identifying influenza A and B, SARS-CoV-2, and respiratory syncytial virus in a single test.

The firm noted that new daily cases of COVID-19 recently exceeded 280,000, which is the highest figure since the pandemic first reached Brazil.

"Seegene is uniquely positioned to respond to the growing global need for COVID-19 and flu testing and we are fully prepared to supply global inventory to help countries around the world as they fight for everyday life to return," said Ho Yi, chief sales and marketing officer of Seegene.

Seegene recently received Health Canada approval for the Allplex respiratory panel test. It also recently introduced a sample-to-answer system and Omicron variant testing as well as a test called the Allplex SARS-CoV-2 Fast PCR Assay, which is optimized to support high-throughput lab testing with results in 60 minutes.
