RUCDR Becomes RainDance Technologies Center of Excellence

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) — RUCDR Infinite Biologics, the research services and biorepository arm of the Rutgers University Cell and DNA Repository (RUCDR), has been named a RainDance Technologies Center of Excellence, the partners said today.

As a RainDance Center of Excellence, RUCDR Infinite Biologics will be a reference site and service provider for RainDance products, and will provide fee-based lab services to other cancer researchers and collaborators who wish to run studies at RUCDR using RainDance products. In exchange, RainDance will collaborate with the organization on scientific validation studies and the development of novel genomic content and research applications, RainDance said.

Currently, RUCDR uses RainDance's ThunderBolts Cancer Panel to profile tumor samples stored in its biorepository as well as its RainDrop Digital PCR System for quality scoring and DNA quantitation prior to next-generation sequencing and for follow-up analysis.

These technologies are also an important part of RUCDR's role in the development of assays and services provided to the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the partners said.

Andrew Brooks, COO of RUCDR Infinite Biologics, noted in a statement that the combination of the ThunderBolts Cancer Panel and RainDrop Digital PCR System provides the organization with a solution for ultra-sensitive nucleic acid detection in tissue, formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue, and plasma.

"RainDance offers us a unified platform that is central to our work with researchers globally by extending the use of valuable samples and allowing us to extract critical insights from limited quantities of biomaterial," Brooks added.
