Product Watch: Affymetrix SensationPlus FFPE Amplification Kit

Affymetrix this week launched the SensationPlus FFPE Amplification and 3' IVT Labeling Kit.

The new kit consists of RNA amplification and labeling modules to enable gene expression profiling of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded samples on GeneChip 3' IVT arrays and Almac Xcel Arrays for disease clinical research and retrospective studies.

SensationPlus is an advanced version of the Genisphere technology acquired by Affymetrix last year. The company said it has significantly optimized the technology to overcome challenges associated with analyzing archived FFPE samples, especially those as old as a decade or more.

The kit efficiently generates sufficient target from as little as 20 nanograms of FFPE-derived total RNA, Affymetrix said.
