People in the News: New Board Members at WaferGen; Cepheid Names Human Resources SVP


WaferGen Biosystems said this week that Scott Davidson and Joseph Pesce have joined the company's board of directors.

Davidson currently serves as managing director at Great Point Partners, where he leads the firm's medical device and diagnostics investing efforts. Davidson has also worked for Piper Jaffray, Bear Stearns, Robertson Stephens, and Canaan Partners.

Pesce is a managing director and operating partner at Great Point Partners. Previously, he was CFO and treasurer of Thomas H. Lee Partners, where he also served as managing director and chief of operations.

Cepheid has appointed Mike Fitzgerald to the position of senior vice president of human resources, the company said this week.

Fitzgerald joined Cepheid from Verigy, a subsidiary of Advantest, where he most recently served as senior vice president of human resources. Prior to that, he was vice president of human resources at Varian. Fitzgerald has also served in human resources roles at Vodafone and Xerox Financial Services.
