Stratos Genomics has appointed Heiner Dreismann to its board of directors, the Seattle-based company said this week. The appointment increases Stratos' board membership to seven.

Dreismann is former CEO of Roche Molecular Diagnostics. Prior to this, he also held other senior positions at Roche in global business development, including as business unit manager for PCR and microbiology; and in manufacturing and R&D for microbiology and infectious diseases.

Dreismann received an MS in biology and a PhD in microbiology and molecular biology from Westfälische Wilhelms University in Münster, Germany; and completed his postdoc at the French Center for Nuclear Research.


WaferGen said this week that it has appointed Janet Lankard as senior vice president of worldwide sales.

Lankard will be responsible for leading the worldwide sales and support activities for the forthcoming launch of the company's SmartChip real-time PCR system. She most recently served as vice president of sales and technical collaborations at VisEn Medical. Prior to this Lankard was a sales professional at Applied Biosystems (now part of Life Technologies); and a sales director at Affymetrix. Lankard also served as vice president of sales and technical support for Quantum Dot (also now part of Life Technologies). She holds a BS in biochemistry from California Polytechnic University.


Orchid Cellmark said last week that Bruce Dalziel has joined the firm's board of directors. Dalziel currently is chief financial officer at Medidata Solutions, and he formerly was CFO for Bisys and for DoubleClick.
