Ocimum Biosolutions to Provide qRT-PCR Services in India

Premium

Ocimum Biosolutions said last week that it is now offering quantitative real-time PCR services in its home country of India.

Ocimum said that its services will include sample preparation, such as RNA/DNA extraction, purification, and quality control; design of RT-PCR assays and customized PCR primers and probes based on TaqMan assays or SYBR green; technical support for experimental design; and data analysis services such as delta-delta Ct calculation and graphical presentation of genes.

Vinay Kumar, a vice president at Ocimum, said in an e-mail to PCR Insider that the company already offers many of these services to customers in North America and Europe through Gaithersburg, Md.-based subsidiary Gene Logic. These services include gene expression profiling, miRNA expression, genotyping, and copy number determination using TaqMan-based assays.

Kumar also said that Gene Logic's qRT-PCR services are currently used by almost 80 percent of the top-20 pharmaceutical companies.
