MBS, Isogen Life Science Ink Thermal Cycler Distribution Deal

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Dutch instrumentation firm Molecular Biology Systems (MBS) said this week that it has signed an agreement making Isogen Life Sciences the exclusive distributor of its NextGen PCR thermal cycler in Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Spain.

Additional terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to MBS, NextGen PCR is designed to cut the time involved in DNA amplification from hours to minutes using a proprietary system that involves moving sample-containing microplates rapidly across temperature zones already set to required denaturing, extension, and annealing temperatures.

"We are delighted to be able to offer NextGen PCR to our customers," Isogen Managing Director Martin Donker said in a statement. "With increasing pressure on throughput, we see a real need for speeding up the thermal cycling phase."

Late last year, MBS announced that NextGen PCR had been adopted by Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands for BRCA1 testing.
