Indian Firm Sisco Buys Madras Biotech

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Indian biotech firm Sisco Research Laboratories announced today the purchase of Madras Biotech for an undisclosed amount.

Madras, based in Chennai, India manufactures products for applications in molecular biology, including DNA and protein biomarkers as well as PCR products, and other biotechnology fields.

In addition to folding Madras into its operations, Sisco said that it "will invest for further expansion and R&D." The acquisition is Sisco's first in its 37-year history, Akash Agarwal, director of Sisco, said in a statement.

Sisco manufactures and markets reagents and biochemicals, including the BioLit portfolio of DNA and protein tools for molecular biology and PCR applications.
