NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Molecular diagnostics firm DxNA announced today that it has signed a Middle Eastern distribution agreement for its GeneStat system and associated food testing products with Dubai-based Gulf Bio Analytical (GBA).
The deal gives GBA the exclusive distribution rights to the system and products in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman.
GeneStat is a portable real-time PCR diagnostic system that was CE marked in 2011 and submitted for 510(k) clearance with the US Food and Drug Administration in July. DxNA said that the first test to be commercialized in the Middle East is the HaFYS pork DNA detection assay for the detection of porcine in food and pharmaceutical products, which is targeted to Muslim markets for halal quality monitoring.
"This strategic partnership provides DxNA with a strong Middle East partner that is well-established in the analytical testing market throughout the GCC region that will spearhead Middle East marketing and sales efforts for DxNA," DxNA CEO David Taus said in a statement.
