Cynvenio Receives CAP Accreditation

NEW YORK(GenomeWeb) – Cynvenio Biosystems today announced that its laboratory has received accreditation from theCollegeofAmerican Pathologists.

The Los Angeles-based molecular diagnostics firm said that the US federal government recognizes the CAP accreditation program as being equal to or more stringent than its own inspection program. During the accreditation process, inspectors examine the lab's records and quality control procedures for the preceding two years, as well as staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.

Cynvenio received CLIA certification in 2013. It has developed a technology called LiquidBiopsy that characterizes tumor cells from a standard blood draw. In June it raised $25.5 million in a Series B financing round to advance the clinical development and commercialization of the technology.
