NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The UK is considering moving to an open-access system for publication of the results of government-funded science, and a new report out this week proposes that science funders, publishers, and government prepare for a "fundamental shift" in how research is published.

The new budget proposal from UK Prime Minister Cameron's government seeks $161.2 million in new R&D facilities and infrastructure spending.

Source expects the contract to provide it with revenues of at least £500,000 ($775,000) per year.

The firm will be a preferred supplier of synthetic oligonucleotides to Research Councils UK Shared Services Centre Ltd.

The German firm will provide synthetic oligos to the RCUK Shared Services Centre Ltd.

Under the contract, Integrated DNA Technologies will supply the Research Councils UK with synthetic oligonucleotides.
