NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Four European research teams will use €38 million ($50.8 million) in funding from the European Union to harness genomic knowledge in developing new diagnostics and treatments for a range of rare diseases, Newcastle University said today.
NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The UK's Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council today announced a £5 million ($7.9 million) five-year grant to a consortium of universities to develop a Web-based synthetic biology platform.
In its companion diagnostics development program for an investigational PARP inhibitor oncologic, Pfizer is pursuing methylation-specific biomarkers rather than BRCA gene mutations to help personalize the drug.
Nine members of the HMO Research Network "will use detailed clinical profiles to search for potential subjects to enroll into … serious adverse events research projects using their electronic medical record databases," iSAEC said in a statement.
Horizon Discovery also plans to participate in a consortium of "top academic institutions and big pharmas" in the cancer field, a research partnership expected to expand its panel of isogenic cell lines for drug discovery.
