Thermo Fisher Scientific has launched the Applied Biosystems MagMax Sequential DNA/RNA Kit, a magnetic bead-based technology that promises to enable the sequential purification of high-quality genomic DNA and total RNA from a single whole blood or bone marrow sample for cancer research. The kit combines DNA and RNA isolation chemistries into a single kit, accommodating up to 15,000 white blood cells per microliter without the need for an additional red blood cell lysis step, according to the company. Compatible with the KingFisher Duo Prime, KingFisher Flex, and KingFisher Apex purification systems, the total turnaround time for the ​​MagMax Sequential workflow is about 2.5 hours with a total hands-on time of roughly 45 minutes, Thermo Fisher said.
