One BioMed Xceler8 Nucleic Acid Extraction Platform

Singapore-based life sciences company One BioMed has launched the Xceler8 platform for high-yield extraction and purification of nucleic acids from biological samples. The X8 cartridge kits are pre-filled with all necessary reagents for use on the OneTouch instrument, which features a touchscreen tablet and automates all nucleic acid extraction steps including cell lysis, capture, washing, and elution in as little as 30 minutes, according to the company. The platform is also random-access, enabling users to run different protocols simultaneously with less than one minute of hands-on time per sample, the company said. A throughput of eight samples per run translates to approximately 500 samples per week. One BioMed has also signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the platform with VigoLab in South Korea.
