Invitae Neurodevelopmental Disorders Testing Service

Invitae this week launched a suite of tests for neurodevelopmental disorders including chromosomal microarray analysis, tests for fragile X-related disorders, and a next-generation-sequencing panel of 200-plus genes. The NGS panel detects sequence variants and full or partial gene deletions and duplications that may be missed by chromosomal microarray analysis. Clinicians can order all three tests within this service to improve understanding of the underlying genetic causes of patients' complex conditions. Two out of three children with development disabilities do not receive the recommended genetic testing, and with this service, Invitae is hoping to expand access to guideline-recommended tests for neurodevelopmental disorders. Test results are available within 10 and 21 days.
