Genes2Me, an India-based IVD manufacturer and genetic diagnostics company, announced the global launch of the RT-Direct Multiplex RT-PCR kit for COVID-19. The kit, which received CE marking in August, covers three target genes specific to SARS-CoV-2 and has been validated with 100 percent sensitivity and specificity, the company said. Results can be obtained in about 40 minutes from sample to report without the need for prior RNA extraction, Genes2Me said. The kit is compatible with any commercial real-time PCR instrument.
