Bio-Techne TSA Vivid Fluorophores 520, 570, 650

Bio-Techne has introduced three novel TSA Vivid Fluorophores for fluorescent detection of RNAs and proteins in cells and tissues. The fluorophores are optimized for use with Bio-Techne's RNAscope ISH technology and enable users to illuminate RNA biomarkers and accelerate cellular phenotyping and functional analysis at single-cell and subcellular resolution, the company said. When used in combination with RNAscope, the new reagents allow for the detection of gene expression with very low background, including low-expressing RNAs. The fluorophores can be purchased individually, as a set, or in combination with the RNAscope Multiplex v2 Assay.

In a Nature Communications study, culture-based approaches along with shotgun sequencing give a better picture of the microbial strains transmitted from mothers to infants.

Microbial Communities Can Help Trees Adapt to Changing Climates

Tree seedlings that were inoculated with microbes from dry, warm, or cold sites could better survive drought, heat, and cold stress, according to a study in Science.

A Combination of Genetics and Environment Causes Cleft Lip

In a study published in Nature Communications, researchers investigate what combination of genetic and environmental factors come into play to cause cleft lip/palate.
