BGI RUO COVID-19 Delta Variant Detection Kit

BGI has launched a new research use-only kit for detecting the COVID-19 Delta variant. The kit detects mutations L452R and E484Q and is validated on samples collected with oropharyngeal or nasopharyngeal swabs, sputum, or bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. BGI noted that the assay can provide a result in about three hours using an automated sample preparation system, with RT-PCR taking approximately one hour on most commercial PCR systems. These assays can easily be integrated into the company's US Food and Drug Administration Emergency Use Authorization workflow that includes high-throughput viral RNA extraction and SARS-CoV-2 detection for testing hundreds or thousands of samples a day.
