New Products Posted to GenomeWeb This Week: SoftGenetics and Repositive

The Repositive Platform

Repositive has launched the full version of its free online data platform, which has been in beta since last year. The platform offers access to more than 750,000 datasets on DNA and RNA-sequencing, epigenetics, and the microbiome. It also features tools such as Boolean and predicated search capacity, improved curation of search filters, the ability to browse through datasets without a keyword search, and options for third party sign-up and login through Google+ and LinkedIn. The company further intends to launch specialized collections of data starting with the Chinese Control Data — a dataset that contains information from GenomeAsia, SGVP, GigaDB, and the Kadoorie BioBank — which will be available this month. Repositive plans to release specialized collections of DNA methylation, RNA expression, PDX molecular data, and human gut microbiome datasets later this year.

SoftGenetics' NextGene Software

SoftGenetics has added a new batch processing tool for copy number variants to the most recent iteration of its NextGene software. According to the company, the new application helps labs realize the benefits of next-generation sequencing while achieving the sensitivity and specificity of traditional multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification methodologies. The tool calculates the pileup coverage at each position in targeted panels and normalizes them by a constant value in each sample. It reports the normalized values in tables and in interactive visualizations.
