Eurofins Genomics Oligonucleotide Synthesizer Platform
Eurofins Genomics has launched its new DNA synthesizer platform. The platform synthesizes EXTREmer oligonucleotides. The oligonucleotides are up to 200 bases long with a coupling efficiency of 99.5 percent or greater. The EXTREmers allow for the construction of genes with segments of low sequence variability that would be difficult to sequence with shorter oligonucleotides, the company said. They can also be used as a template for in vitro transcription of RNA molecules.
Repositive Autism Data Collection
Repositive has launched the Autism Data Collection, a database comprised of over 6,500 datasets from autism patients. The datasets were sourced from nine different data sources and include whole-exome sequencing data, microRNA data, and data on the role of the microbiome in autism. The whole-exome sequencing data makes up the largest portion of the database, and was generated through a partnership between Baylor College of Medicine and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, the company said.
Horizon Discovery Synthetic Plasma cfDNA Reference Standard
Horizon Discovery Group has launched a new tool called the HDx cell-free DNA Reference Standard in Synthetic Plasma. According to the company, the new reference set addresses challenges in extracting DNA for liquid biopsy testing, helps to ensure that an assay is not over or under loaded, and allows users to better control variation in their tests. The set contains eight cancer-relevant mutations including BRAF, EGFR, KRAS, NRAS, and PIK3CA at 5 percent, 1 percent, and 0.1 percent allelic frequencies. Because the reference is engineered in plasma, mimicking actual human material, users can gain better understanding of assay performance from extraction and quantification through to analysis and informatics, Horizon added.
