Nanogen Appoints Kieran Gallahue President

NEW YORK, Sept. 6 — Nanogen (Nasdaq: NGEN), a maker of electronic-based genomic research devices, said Wednesday it had promoted its chief financial officer to the position of president.

Kieran Gallahue will retain the CFO title until a replacement is named, the company said.

Gallahue served as Nanogen's senior vice president and chief financial officer since July 1999 and as vice president of strategic marketing from January 1998 to July 1999.

Nanogen of San Diego also announced the departure of Jim O'Connell as vice president of science and technology after six years with the company. He will continue to serve as a consultant.

The company recently began marketing its NanoChip Molecular Biology Workstation system for SNP scoring to scientists and genomics laboratories and announced a strategic partnership with Hitachi.
