Yourgene Health to Manufacture Coronavirus Test for Novacyt

NEW YORK – Yourgene Health said on Wednesday that it has signed an agreement with Novacyt to provide contract manufacturing services for Novacyt's COVID-19 diagnostic test.

Under the agreement, UK-based Yourgene will use its manufacturing facility at Citylabs in Manchester to ramp up production of the test, which was developed by Primerdesign, Novacyt's molecular diagnostics division. The assay has received CE marking and US Food and Drug Administration Emergency Use Authorization.

Yourgene expects to ship the first batches of the test over the next few weeks. Initially, the company will manufacture "critical components" for the test, which is PCR based, while maintaining production of its own tests. The firms may expand their agreement in the future to have Yourgene produce the entire COVID-19 testing kit.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

In addition to support manufacturing of Novacyt's test, Yourgene is in the process of expanding its lab capabilities to support the UK's National Health Service by providing COVID-19 laboratory testing services.
