Premaitha Health Receives Accreditation from English Regulator for NIPT Lab

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Premaitha Health has received accreditation for its new noninvasive prenatal testing laboratory in Manchester from the Care Quality Commission, a regulator of health and care services in England.

Premaitha's clinical laboratory, based in the Manchester Science Park, will provide testing services on an interim basis for customers who are in the process of establishing the company's Iona test in their own laboratory. In addition, the lab will provide back-up services for customers during busy periods.

"We want to be able to offer a clinical laboratory service to support customers keen to provide the Iona test at the earliest possible opportunity," said Premaitha CEO Stephen Little in a statement. "The accreditation validates the quality of our facilities and the expertise of our clinical scientists."

Premaitha has licensed the CE-marked Iona test to a number of clinical laboratories in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.
