NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Millennium Health announced today that it has been awarded a contract to provide its Millennium PGT pharmacogenomics test to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Financial and other terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Millennium PGT analyzes clinically relevant genetic variants for 14 genes related to certain pain and mental health medication responses to help guide clinicians' prescribing decisions.
According to Millennium, the VA has modified an existing federal supply schedule contract with Millennium to add the test, making it available to roughly 9 million veterans the agency serves annually. It will also now be available to patients served by clinicians in the Department of Defense, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
"Millennium PGT will help clinicians prescribe mental health and pain medications without the trial-and-error approach so that patients can feel better, faster," Millennium CEO Jennifer Strickland said in a statement.
