Calibre Scientific Acquires French Reagent, Instrument Distributor AmpliTech

NEW YORK — Calibre Scientific said on Tuesday that it has acquired French life science reagent and instrument distributor AmpliTech.

Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

AmpliTech specializes in molecular pathology, cytogenetics, and prenatal, postnatal, and cancer molecular genetics, providing products to universities, hospitals, and large public and private labs in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Switzerland, according to Calibre.

Los Angeles-based Calibre said that the acquisition will help expand its European distribution footprint.

"AmpliTech has a long history of providing premium products to its customer base in France and abroad," Mike Brownleader, Calibre's chief revenue officer, said in a statement. "By adding key new supplier relationships, we will enhance the scope of their product offering, making AmpliTech the one-stop shop for all its customers' needs."

About a year ago, AmpliTech signed an agreement to distribute Congenica's clinical decision support platform in France and other French-speaking European nations.

In late 2020, Calibre acquired Ontario-based life science product distributor Canadian Life Science.
