Baylor Genetics, King Faisal Specialist Hospital Form Genetic Testing Alliance

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) — Baylor Genetics announced last week that it has signed a preliminary agreement to provide genetic testing services to Saudi Diagnostic Limited (SDL), a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's King Faisal Specialist Hospital International (KFSHI).

Under the terms of a memorandum of understanding, Houston-based Baylor Genetics will be KFSHI-SDL's exclusive lab partner for all genetic testing and precision medicine applications. Baylor Genetics will also provide KFSHI-SDL with technical support, technology transfer, and training services to build on their existing capabilities, and the partners will work together to develop and commercialize genetic tests and services for the Saudi Arabian market.

A final agreement is expected to be signed by the end of June.

"This strategic partnership will bring together our genetic testing expertise with KFSHI-SDL, the premier healthcare provider in the region," Baylor Genetics President and CEO Kengo Takishima said in a statement. "We believe this collaboration positions both entities to further expand best-in-class genetic testing to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and surrounding regions, and increase access to expertise, support, training, and education."
