NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Alere announced on Wednesday the completion of its private offering of $425 million of senior subordinated notes.
The firm plans to use proceeds from the offering of the notes, which bear an interest rate of 6.375 percent and are due in 2023, to redeem all of its outstanding $400 million aggregate principal amount of 8.625 percent senior subordinated notes due in 2018 and to pay a portion of related redemption fees, premiums, costs, and expenses, and accrued interest on the notes.
Alere said that the refinancing will save it an estimated $2 million in quarterly interest expense.
The notes are not be registered under US securities law and will not be offered or sold in the US.
