MiraiBio Signs on as Distributor of Orchid Consumables, Software

NEW YORK, Oct. 8 – Hitachi Software Engineering subsidiary MiraiBio has agreed to market Orchid Biosciences’ SNPstream consumables and software, the companies said Monday.

Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, MiraiBio will have non-exclusive worldwide rights to sell Orchid’s accessories and reagent kits. Orchid will retain the rights to distribute the complete SNPstream system and to form additional marketing agreements.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SNPstream is designed to enable researchers to generate thousands of SNP genotypes per day. Orchid’s reagents and software are designed to work with on Luminex’s 100 platform, which MiraiBio also distributes.

Orchid is based in Princeton NJ, while MiraiBio has headquarters in Alameda, Calif.
