NEW YORK – PathogenDx has entered into a strategic partnership with Nationwide Laboratory Services for fungal testing of dermatology and podiatry samples.
The PathogenDx has developed an array-based system that can be used for different applications, with the firm initially targeting the cannabis testing space.
Nationwide Laboratory Services will now create a laboratory developed test using the PathogenDx testing technology, with aims for a multiplex fungal assay to identify up to 44 different pathogens at a time. The firms expect the assay to be ready for beta testing by the first quarter of 2020, according to a statement.
The industry standard for fungal testing in dermatology and podiatry is more than 72 hours turnaround time. The new test "will offer doctors, patients and insurers ultra-rapid and less expensive fungal testing results in 6 hours or less," said PathogenDx CEO Milan Patel.
Nationwide Laboratory Services is a full-service diagnostic laboratory based in South Florida. It is in-network with more than 100 insurance plans with a number of patient service centers throughout the US, particularly in the Southeast.
