NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – LGC will globally distribute TraitGenetics' array-based SNP genotyping services for plant breeding applications under a deal announced today by LGC.
LGC will offer TraitGenetics' SNP genotyping services using Illumina and Affymetrix array technologies to LGC's global customers as part of its expanded genotyping services portfolio supporting marker analysis services. The services include SNP discovery, production, and quality control.
Based in Gatersleben, Germany, TraitGenetics develops molecular biomarkers and biomarker-based technologies for plant breeding companies. Martin Ganal, the company's managing director, noted in a statement that TraitGenetics has developed arrays for commercial crops including wheat, maize, barley, Brassica, cotton, sunflower, pepper, and tomato.
LGC is a life sciences measurement and testing firm headquartered in London and has delivered more than 1 billion genotype data points using its Kompetitive Allele Specific PCR and SNPLine technologies, it said.
