Affymetrix, Hamilton Partner on Target Prep Instrument

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Hamilton Robotics today said that it has partnered with Affymetrix on the development of a target preparation system for Affy's CytoScan cytogenetics assay.

It said that the CytoScan Automated Target Preparation Solution, which Affymetrix intends to launch soon, has been built on Hamilton's Microlab Nimbus 96 workstation.

Tanya Petrossian, global strategic product manager for Affymetrix, said in a statement that the new system will increase sample throughput at least two-fold for labs that offer the firm's CytoScan.

Last week at the JP Morgan Healthcare Conference Affymetrix President and CEO Frank Witney said that the firm plans to file for US Food and Drug Administration clearance for its CytoScan platform in the first quarter of this year for post-natal applications.
