NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Geneformics Data Systems and WuXi NextCode have announced a collaboration on genomic data storage and transfer.
Under the terms of the collaboration, WuXi NextCode will integrate Geneformics' compression technology into its workflows.
Israel- and Sunnyvale, California-based Geneformics said in a statement that it can reduce raw file sizes by up to 90 percent. Pairing compression with storage and archiving tech, researchers can query large datasets efficiently.
The partnership "will enable a large range of customers to benefit from high-speed data transfer, efficient storage, and archiving of genome sequence data," Geneformics CEO Rafael Feitelberg said in a statement.
WuXi NextCode COO Hannes Smarason added that he expects collaboration to reduce the firm's data footprint.
