Johns Hopkins University professor Victor McKusick was awarded the Japan Prize in Medical Genetics and Genomics for his role in publishing the first edition of the Mendelian Inheritance in Man, a compendium of inherited disorders, in 1966. He will receive his award in Tokyo on April 23.
 

 

Massively Parallel Technologies has appointed John Gustafson to its board of directors. Gustafson is currently the chief technical officer at ClearSpeed Technology and was formerly principal engineer, scientist, and senior manager at Sun Labs; a computational scientist at Ames Laboratory; a member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories; and an engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
