University of Dundee Licenses GVK BIO's Online SAR Database

The University of Dundee's drug discovery unit has licensed GVK Biosciences' Online SAR Database , or GOSTAR, a manually curated database that contains over 6 million manually curated compounds and more than 18 million quantitative SAR points.

Ian Gilbert, DDU's head of medicinal chemistry and acting head of the division of biological chemistry, said in a statement that the database would support drug discovery efforts at the unit which is responsible for "developing translational research at Dundee and outside, by bringing together [its] experience of drug discovery in the pharma/biotech sector with basic academic research to identify new treatments for diseases."

Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
