Todd Joron has been named senior VP of sales and marketing of Pittsburgh-based TissueInformatics. Joron, most recently president and CEO of Montreal-based data-mining software developer Bibliomondo, will lead customer development activities worldwide. His immediate emphasis will be on building the company’s pharmaceutical customer base in the areas of skin, immunohistochemistry, angiogenesis, and liver analysis services.


Cambridge, UK-based BioWisdom has named five members to its scientific advisory board: Arthur Thomas, a founder of BioWisdom and managing director of technology consultancy Proteus Associates; Michael Ashburner, former joint head of the European Bioinformatics Institute; Ann Hayes, former director of drug discovery at GlaxoWellcome (now GlaxoSmithKline) and founder of Ionix Pharmaceuticals; Malcolm Weir, CEO of Inpharmatica; and Paolo Zanella, former director of strategic and international relations at Synomics and director of the EBI.


United Devices of Austin, Texas, has promoted Jikku Venkat from vice president of engineering to chief technology officer. David Anderson, former CTO, will assume the new role of chief science officer.


Heidelberg, Germany-based Lion Bioscience has appointed Juergen Dormann chairman of its supervisory board. Dormann is also chairman of the supervisory board of Aventis and chairman of the board of directors of ABB Ltd.
