Steve Lincoln has left his position as vice president of informatics at Affymetrix. In addition, Michael Lelivelt, previously senior manager for informatics applications at Affymetrix, has joined Partek as vide president of genomics.
An Affymetrix spokesman said that Greg Fisher, associate director of product marketing for systems and software, is taking on their responsibilities.

Bioinformatics.Org said this week that it will present the 2008 Benjamin Franklin Award in the Life Sciences to Robert Gentleman of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Gentleman is being recognized for his role in developing the open source statistical analysis package R and his role in developing BioConductor, an open source suite of tools for genomic data analysis.
Members of Bioinformatics.Org, an open source bioinformatics advocacy group that now includes more than 24,000 members, vote for the recipient of the Franklin Award each year.
The award is presented annually to an individual “who has, in his or her practice, promoted free and open access to the materials and methods used in the life sciences.”
