Specialty Labs to Buy Sequenom Reference Lab


Sequenom said diagnostics reference laboratory Specialty Laboratories had agreed to buy its MassArray system to detect SNPs that are associated with specific diseases.

Specialty Laboratories will use Sequenom’s mass spectrometry system for clinical diagnostics testing.

In exchange Sequenom will receive royalties for any commercial application.

The two parties have also decided to jointly develop and commercialize assays using Sequenom’s automated assay development process. They will share rights to the assays.
