Software Acceleration Firm Mitrionics Raises $6M in VC Financing

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) - Software developer Mitrionics has raised $6 million in venture capital financing from a group of Scandinavian capital firms, the company said today.
 
Mitrionics, based in Lund, Sweden, said it plans to use the cash to develop and fund its field programmable gate array accelerated computing and processing programs, and to expand its sales and R&D efforts.
 
Investors in the round include Grande Ventures, Creandum, and Teknoinvest.
 
Mitrionics said its software can accelerate bioinformatics algorithms such as Blast and other applications for use on FPGAs so that they run 20 times or more faster than on traditional processors.
