Accelrys has promoted Scott Kahn from general manager and senior vice president of its life sciences division to CSO of worldwide operations. In this new role, Kahn will manage Accelrys’ software and IT R&D and will help guide the company’s future marketing direction.
Michael Gribskov, a senior staff scientist at the San Diego Supercomputer Center at the University of California, San Diego, has been elected president of the International Society for Computational Biology. Gribskov, who has served on the ISCB board of directors since 1999, became co-chair in 2000, and served as vice president under the most recent ISCB president, Phil Bourne. Gribskov’s term as president will expire in 2005.
Edward Helton, chief strategist of regulatory and biomedical affairs at Cary, NC-based SAS, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors for the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC).
