Platform Computing has released a low-cost, entry-level version of its Clusterware software for Linux clusters up to 64 CPUs. The software, priced at $120 per CPU, is available at www.platform.com/clusterware.

Biosentients has released its Sentient Platform 1.5 informatics software for 2D gel electrophoresis. According to the company, the update improves the search speed of comparing new 2D electrophoresis gels with images in public and private databases.

GeneBio plans to launch version 4 of its Melanie 2D gel analysis software at the end of December. New features in Melanie 4 include automation through the use of customizable scripts, project management and planning, and spot viewing with differential color display and 3D functions.

GO2PDB, a Gene Ontology interface to the Protein Data Bank, is now available from the IMB Jena Image Library of Biological Macromolecules at www.imb-jena. de/cgi-bin/go2pdb.pl. The interface allows users to search the PDB with GO terms.

NCBI has enhanced its Map Viewer and Blast databases for the rat genome. Rat-specific Blast is available at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genome/seq/RnBlast.html and the Map Viewer is at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ mapview/map_search.cgi?chr=rat.inf.

Scimagix has released version 2.0 of its Scientific Image Management System (SIMS) and the SIMS Regulatory Module. Scimagix has added a suite of qualification scripts to verify that the systems adhere to the FDA’s CFR part 11 regulations.

BioReaktor 0.1, a toolkit for simulating intracellular processes, is available at www12.brinkster.com/bioreaktor/default.htm.
