PE's Candlin Named Paracel's New Director Of Bioinformatics

PASADENA, Calif.--Hardware provider Paracel has named James Candlin its new director of bioinformatics. He was previously manager of strategic bioinformatics alliances at PE Applied Biosystems, where he also played a key role in forming PE's Bioinformatics Coalition, which brought together bioinformatics companies with the common goal of sharing resources to develop better solutions for researchers.

Forrest Fleming, Paracel's vice-president of marketing and sales, called Candlin "one of the pioneers in the development of computer solutions for scientists who study the human genome. He has a broad understanding of the issues surrounding genomic data analysis and bioinformatics. His insight and experience will help Paracel to define our future products." Candlin added, "Industrial bioinformatics requires complete systems that address the information needs of genetic analysis applications with robust and scalable software and hardware. Paracel's vision, its engineering capabilities, and its partnerships uniquely endow the company with the resources to build the most useful tools to extract real information from the flood of genetic data."
