Trevor Heritage, Accelrys's executive vice president for corporate development and strategy, has resigned his post, according to documents filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Prior to joining Accelrys, Heritage was president of Symyx's software division before the company merged with Accelrys in 2010 (BI 7/2/2010). He also served as the senior vice president of software product management and chief scientific officer at Elsevier MDL before Symyx bought the business in 2007 (BI 8/17/2007). Before that he was the senior vice president and general manager of software at Tripos.

Under the terms of his resignation from Accelrys, Heritage will receive a total severance pay of $220,000, paid over a period of nine months.
