Oxford Nanopore Technologies has hired Kristen Stoops as business development director.

Stoops has more than 14 years of business development experience in life sciences technology companies, including a seven-year tenure with software firm Spotfire (now part of Tibco), where she directed all aspects of its commercial partner program in life sciences.

From 2006 to 2008, Stoops served as director of informatics business development at Helicos BioSciences, and following that she served as senior director of strategic marketing and new business development at Merck's Rosetta Biosoftware business unit. She also cofounded Neotron, a developer of nuclear detection technologies, in 2009. She holds an MA and a BA in physics.
