FOSTER CITY, Calif.--PE Biosystems has filed suit in the Northern District of California against Amersham Pharmacia Biotech for infringing a patent covering a class of fluorescent dye compounds developed by PE and used in automated DNA sequencing. Amersham recently was granted two favorable rulings by a California District Court in a lawsuit against PE. That dispute is about a different patent concerning energy transfer dyes.
