NicheVision to Distribute Battelle's Genomic Forensic ID Software

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb) – Forensics software firm NicheVision has reached a worldwide deal to distribute Battelle's ExactID software solution.

Under the deal announced this week, NicheVision will distribute ExactID to law enforcement, government, and commercial entities. The Akron, Ohio-based firm will also install the software for users and provide ongoing support and service.

Financial and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ExactID applies bioinformatics to next-generation sequencing data and analyzes biomarkers that may provide information about physical appearance, ancestry, clinical traits, and familial relationships. It gives forensic researchers the ability to obtain investigative information from genetic samples even when they don't return matches from existing databases, NicheVision said.

"With ExactID, we can offer our customers a powerful new analytical tool that can further aid in the identification of unknown victims and criminals through advanced DNA sequencing," NicheVision CEO Luigi Armogida said in a statement. "Adding ExactID to our toolkit fits our ongoing mission to provide the forensic community with solutions that improve the speed and accuracy of investigations while reducing the burden on investigators."
