Multiomic Informatics Startup Via Scientific Raises $5M in Seed Funding

NEW YORK — Informatics startup Via Scientific said on Tuesday that it has raised $5 million in seed funding.

The financing was led by G20 Ventures and Innospark Ventures, with participation from Melissa Moore, a founding scientist, board member, and former CSO of Moderna; Rob Hickey, former executive VP of artificial intelligence tech firm DataRobot; and Via Scientific Founder Janet Kosloff, who previously served as CEO of InCrowd.

Via Scientific is advancing a multiomics platform — originally developed at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School — that uses AI to analyze large-scale biological data to find novel associations between biological entities, to identify relevant biomarkers and pathways, and to uncover markers of disease and physiology.

The seed funding will be used to support Via Scientific's commercialization efforts, to expand its library of bioinformatic processes, pipelines, and AI models, and to grow its technology and scientific teams, the Boston-based company said.
