Millennium and Pfizer Expand Collaboration On Antifungal Targets

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Based on the success of their current partnership, Pfizer will expand its collaboration with Millennium Pharmaceuticals here for the discovery of unique antifungal drug targets and leads. As part of the expansion Pfizer will add more research personnel. The relationship began in March 1995 as a collaboration with ChemGenics Pharmaceuticals, which merged with Millennium a year ago.

In other news, Millennium recently purchased ABI Prism 377 DNA analysis systems from Perkin-Elmer's Applied Biosystems Division to enhance its genetic analysis services, and will serve as a test site for a new 96-lane upgrade feature that Perkin-Elmer claims will increase the sequencers' throughput by 50 percent. The new equipment will be delivered over the next several months.
