MetaMiner Cystic Fibrosis, Nexus Copy Number Professional Version 3 Human Oral Microbiome Database, ProCKSI, TopMatch-web, RasMol 2.4.4.2

Premium
GeneGo has released MetaMiner Cystic Fibrosis, a software and database platform focused on integrating and analyzing cystic fibrosis data. The company developed the platform with support from Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics, a non-profit affiliate of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The system includes a database of experimental information on the disease and more than 30 CF-specific pathway maps and networks.

BioDiscovery has released Nexus Copy Number Professional Version 3, a data-integration tool that allows researchers to process thousands of arrays and their clinical annotations. The software is compatible with the Agilent, Affymetrix, Illumina, Roche Nimblegen, and Empire Genomics array platforms.

The new release also enables the integration of external gene expression and miRNA results with copy number analysis data so that researchers can overlay this information on chromosomal aberration regions.

The Forsyth Institute and King's College London have released the Human Oral Microbiome Database, or HOMD, here. The free online database includes information on oral microorganisms, including biological entries for each species and a catalog of genes.

The database categorizes each microbe by its 16S rRNA sequence. For those organisms whose DNA has been sequenced, HOMD provides online tools to view and analyze their genes and proteins.

The University of Nottingham has released the Protein Structure Comparison, Knowledge, Similarity, and Information, or ProCKSI, server.

ProCKSI computes structural similarities using a range of similarity measures in order to produce a similarity consensus. The resource also provides links to external resources with information about protein structures, and provides tools for visualizing, analyzing, and comparing results.

The University of Salzburg has released TopMatch-web, a public web service for the alignment and superposition of protein structures and the visualization of structural similarities.

RasMol 2.4.4.2 is available here.

New features in the molecular graphics program include support for maps, support for Bulgarian, Chinese, English, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish messages, and support for the wwPDB remediated PDB format.
